¡Voy a sobrevivir! / I will survive!
For this project we each chose a Spanish speaking country to focus on and study. We then created survival guides that were specific to the country we chose. For my project I chose Peru and made five different sections in my survival guide (Greetings/goodbyes, accommodations, transportation,food and hiking the Inca Trail) that had specific language and tips based on what Peruvians say. To ensure our books were accurate to our country, we contacted someone who had either visited our country or lived there. We then, in groups, made skits that were specific to our chosen country and preformed them at exhibition.

Reflexión / Reflection
Overall this project was very fun. However, I think the most difficult part for me was taking my information from my paper and putting it into a book form. This was hard because I was creating it from scratch and it took me a long time to figure out how to make it look fun while still being professional and easy to read.
En general este proyecto fue muy divertirse. La parte más difícil fue captura mi información de mi papel y ensamblado en un libro forma. Este fue difícil porque fue creé mi libro de partir de cero y lo tome un llevar tiempo descubrí cómo hacer el libro versar divertirse mientras aún ser profesional y fácil leer.
The most fun part of the project was having freedom with what your book can look like and the skits. I really enjoyed being able to make my guide look however I wanted it to and not having many restrictions. I also enjoyed the skits because I liked acting and collaborating with other students.
La parte más divertida fue teniendo libertad con qué tu libro poder versar como y las comedietas. Me gustó mucho pudiendo hacer mi guía parece independientemente yo deseado lo y no teniendo muy restricciones. Yo también disfrutando las comedietas porque me gustó representando y colaborando con otros estudiantes.
I am most proud of my final printed guide. I spent over 12 hours just formatting the book in Photoshop and I am very proud of the outcome and my perseverance.
Estoy orgullosa de mi final guía impresa. Yo usado encima 12 horas solo formateado el libro en Photoshop y soy muy orgulloso del resultado y mi perseverancia.
I learned how different each country is in their culture and the way they speak. It amazes me how so many different countries speak Spanish but each country speaks it a different way.
Aprendí cómo diferente cada país es en su cultura y la forma hablan. Soy sorprendido cómo tantos diferente país hablan Español para cada país hablan Español en un diferente forma.

Videos Ridículos
For this project, we got into groups of three to four and were challenged to picked a grammar topic to teach through a video. For this video we came up with a basic idea or theme to carry out through the video and wrote a script together that and some factor to it that would help students remember the concept. For our video we chose to focus on the grammar topic of ir+a+infinitivo and used the element of repetition to help students understand the concept of the grammar subject. In addition we were required to create worksheets that students can later use better understand the grammar topic being taught.

La Reflexión
La parte más difícil del trabajo fue inventar una idea para el video. Fue difícil porque nunca podíamos acordarnos de una idea que fue ambas única y creativa pero también una idea que ayudó a estudiantes a aprender el concepto. La parte más divertida fue la filmación. Fue divertido inventar ideas de como filmar la escena y hablar con miembros de mi grupo. Estoy más orgullosa del video que hicimos. En el principio sabíamos que iba a ser un proyecto desafiante e iba a ser difícil hacerlo refinado. Aunque el video no es perfecto, me siento que creamos un video gracioso y decente en el tiempo que teníamos. Una cosa que aprendí de este proyecto es de buena comunicación en un grupo. En este proyecto tuvimos que comunicarnos entre nosotros sobre utilería para el video, el guion, horario diario, y fechas límites.

This was challenging because we could never settle on an idea that was both unique and creative but also one that helped students learn the concept. The most fun part of this project was filming. It was fun to come up with ideas on how to film the scene and to talk with my group members. In this project I am most proud of the video we made. In the beginning we knew it was going to be a challenging project and would be difficult to make it look refined. Though it isn´t perfect, I feel that we created a funny and decent video in the time we had. One thing I learned from this project is good group communication. In this project we had to communicate to each other about props for the video, the script, daily schedule and deadlines.
La parte más difícil del trabajo fue inventar una idea para el video. Fue difícil porque nunca podíamos acordarnos de una idea que fue ambas única y creativa pero también una idea que ayudó a estudiantes a aprender el concepto. La parte más divertida fue la filmación. Corridos: Historia por Música
Project Reflection
For this project we studied the relationships between Mexicans and Americans and looked at the historical events of the Mexican Revolution, Mexican-American War, the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo and the waves of immigration. We then studied various corridos, a Spanish ballad, looking at the time period they were in and the structure/reoccurring themes. We than chose a topic or person to study who had an important role/impact in the history of Mexicans and Americans and wrote an informative report and a corrido telling the story of our topic. For inspiration for this project I studied the corrido: Corrido de César Chávez. I chose this specific corrido to study because it was not only informative, but it was written in an unique and poetic way that made me look at César Chávez and the work he did in a new light.
For my visual piece of the project I chose to create a poster that used images from César Chávez’s protest, the organization he was involved in (United Farm Workers) and one of his most famous phrases, Sí Se Puede (Yes, it can be done). I chose to make a poster because I felt that it was a clear and refined way to show the audience the work César was involved in in his life. Although my poster was simple and refined in the end, it was a difficult process for me. I was challenged with creating this piece because I was having a hard time finding a way to show my understanding and perspective of César without the poster being too busy and confusing. By the end of this process I had a made a total of four posters, with completely different perspectives, before I got to my final draft.
The three things I learned about Mexican-American history while writing my report/corrido was the discrimination against Mexican workers who were helping support America, the prevalence of discrimination towards Mexican workers today and that there were (and are still) people fighting for justice much like Gandhi did, a fact of which I was unaware. The most challenging part of this project for me was writing the corrido and report. This was difficult for me not because of the Spanish vocabulary, but because it was hard for me to decipher when to use which tense. Saying that, I learned that even with the “rules” for the usage of preterit v. imperfect, it can be hard to decided which grammar rule applies to each situation/sentence. With these “rules” for usage of preterit v. imperfect, I learned how to also conjugate verbs and reflexive verbs in those tenses. Additionally, I relearned the order of words when describing an object or person (that fact that it is in reverse order confuses me sometimes.)
